Full Description
Sudden Oak Death (SOD) is caused by Phytophthora ramorum and has resulted in widespread dieback of several tree species in Oregon forests. The only way to confirm the presence of SOD is through laboratory testing. This project will support a public purpose by protecting natural resources and restore the health of watersheds that are the habitat for several threatened or endangered species. The restriction of SOD to the quarantine zone will protect the nursery industry in the State of Oregon from further restrictions and/or destruction of existing crops and the resulting economic loss.
