NIH Grant: Fund Your Breakthrough Structural Biology Research
Summary
This NIH grant targets research institutions and consortia with established high-throughput structural biology capabilities. Secure up to $28 million to advance cutting-edge protein structure determination and contribute to a vital national research network.
Eligibility
Full Description
Purpose. This FOA solicits applications to establish Centers for High-Throughput Structure Determination that will become the backbone of the NIGMS PSI:Biology network for high-throughput-enabled structural biology. The centers must be able to provide capabilities for high-throughput structure determination on the order of those that have been developed during previous phases of the Protein Structure Initiative (PSI), e.g., ~ 200 structures per year deposited in the Protein Databank (PDB). Awardee principal investigators will become part of the PSI:Biology Network Steering Committee and will work jointly with other investigators and NIH staff to manage the overall PSI:Biology initiative.
Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the U54 cooperative agreement award mechanism. Choice of cooperative agreement is based on the need for NIH staff involvement in interactions between the many components of the PSI:Biology network to be established. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards.
The National Institute of General Medical Sciences expects to award up to $28 million through this announcement; and anticipates making 3-5 awards.
