-Purpose. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) solicits grant applications under this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) that are aimed at Phase I translation (T1) of recent advances in understanding the molecular basis of endogenous, self-sustaining daily cycles (circadian) in cellular function and gene expression to improve our understanding of heart, lung, and blood disease pathogenesis. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project (R01) grant mechanism.
-Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Contingent upon the availability of funds and the receipt of a sufficient number of meritorious applications, the total amount to be awarded is $12 million over four years. The anticipated number of awards is 4-6.
