Eligibility
Full Description
The DOE SC program in High Energy Physics (HEP) hereby invites applications for new opportunities to develop the design and execution plans for small projects to carry out dark matter particle searches, making use of DOE laboratory infrastructure and/or technology capabilities. This FOA follows the recommendations of the Basic Research Needs (BRN) workshop for Dark Matter New Initiatives, which was held on October 15-18, 2018 [1]. The U.S. particle physics community’s current vision for the future is embodied in the Particle Physics Project Prioritization Panel (P5) report [2] that presents a strategy for the next decade centered on five intertwined science drivers, including the search for dark matter particles.
This FOA is for new opportunities to develop the design and execution plans for small projects to carry out dark matter particle searches, making use of DOE laboratory infrastructure and/or technology capabilities. The small project should support the dark matter science Priority Research Directions (PRDs) defined in the BRN workshop on Dark Matter New Initiatives [1] and described below.
