This grant supports critical studies aimed at understanding ecological relationships and improving environmental management strategies.
Eligibility
Full Description
The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) intends to issue a cooperative agreement to University of California, Davis under the authority of catalog for domestic assistance (CFDA) 15.512, Central Valley Project Improvement Act, Public Law 102-575, Section 3406(b)(1) and 3407(e). Estimated total amount of agreement is $575,678.00. The purpose of this agreement is directed at improving the understanding of the relationship between the distribution of delta smelt, the density and composition of their food supply and the nutrient and contaminant dynamics that may be affected by water management activities. The principal objectives of this study are to: (1) Provide nutrient and algae monitoring support for the Fall Adaptive Management Program; (2) Evaluate the nutrients, algae, and zooplankton dynamics for the Sacramento Ship Channel, a survey site within the FallX2 range; (3) Investigate the role of nutrient concentration and composition in regulating the abundance and composition of suspended algae and zooplankton across a gradient of environmental conditions; and (4) Continue large-scale nutrient enrichment enrichments focused on determining the relationship between concentration and composition of nutrients and the suspended algal community.
