Summary

African farmers and communities can apply for grants to pilot or research sustainable seed storage models that reduce post-harvest losses and can be replicated across regions. USAID is offering up to $1 million to develop these innovative solutions over an 18-month period.

Full Description

USAID/OFDA has allocated US $1 million to support pilot projects or basic research programs that can lead to the design and development of seed storage models in Africa. These seed storage systems should a) be sustainable after the supporting NGO leaves the region, b) be replicable across many different areas in similar agro-ecological zones, and c) significantly reduce post-harvest losses to insects and diseases. This effort will be implemented over an eighteen (18) month period.
