CDC’s Procurement and Grants Office has published a funding opportunity announcement entitled, “Research and Public Health Practice on Influenza and other respiratory infectious diseases in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South American regions.” Approximately $3,000,000 will be available in fiscal year 2009 to fund one award. The purpose of this FOA to strengthen capacity to detect and describe the epidemiology and disease burden associated with influenza and other respiratory diseases in selected geographic areas and to evaluate the acceptability, efficacy and effectiveness of vaccines and other interventions against respiratory diseases in countries in the regions.For complete program details, please see the full announcement on the CDC website at http://www.cdc.gov/od/pgo/funding/FOAs.htm.
