Full Description

The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), announces the availability of US $8.9 million to be awarded by Cooperative Agreement (hereinafter referred to as “grant” or “Cooperative Agreement”) to one qualifying organization to strengthen the enforcement capabilities of Ministries of Labor (MOLs) in Central America and the Dominican Republic so as to improve compliance with national labor laws. ILAB is authorized to award and administer this program by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2008, P. L.

No. 110-161, 121 Stat. 1844 (2007). This project is funded from the Revised Continuing Appropriations Resolution 2007, Pub L.

110-05, 121 Stat 8 (2007), provided by the U.S. Department of State. The Cooperative Agreement awarded under this initiative will be managed by ILAB’s Office of Trade and Labor Affairs. The duration of the project funded by this solicitation is four to five years.

The start date of program activities will be negotiated upon award of the Cooperative Agreement, but will be no later than September 30, 2008. An initial amount of US $4.2 million is available immediately and ILAB anticipates additional funding of US $4.7 million, subject to the availability of funds. Applicants should account for the entire US $8.9 million in their budget and proposal.
